( CHARACTER INFORMATION )
- ★ NAME: Karolina Dean
- ★ AGE: 16ish (She had a driver's license in her origin story, and at least one of her teammates has had a birthday since then)
- ★ CANON & CANON POINT: Marvel-616/Runaways, after Runaways vol.3 #6
- ★ CANON INFORMATION: http://marvel.wikia.com/Runaways_(Earth-616)
- ★ PERSONALITY:

Karolina is bright. While her intelligence isn't really remarked upon, she is generally a good-feelings kind of person. Her parents were very cheerful around her, at one point lamenting that they were the only happy couple in Hollywood, and Karolina shows this. She is harmonious when she reasonably can be, and she has a strong social conscience. Her parents were the type to get arrested during civil protests and she continues to be the kind of person who prefers to act when she sees someone in trouble. She uses the "with the great power" argument on her friend Molly at one point, and when she sees a child bride being abused by her husband during a time travel jaunt, she tries to convince the girl to run away with her and her friends.

At the same time, she's not really a "look at me" person. She's a tall, pretty blonde, but she doesn't talk about herself. She generally keeps her problems to herself, although, being a teenager, she isn't above the occasional emotional outburst. She takes the knowledge that her hippie movie star parents are actually evil alien criminals extremely badly. Her feelings are hurt on a very primal level, both that her parents aren't who she thought they were and that she isn't who she thought she was.

Learning that her parents lied to her about being aliens upsets her, and while she does take a good swing at her mom, that her mom tells her they can't use their powers against each other makes her turn her upset against herself. She goes through a pretty extreme moodswing the first time she takes her "Lucy in the Sky" form: her thought process goes straight from "I hope our parents do kill us now!" to "Oh my God, I can fly!" with a huge grin, still with tear streaks. Literally, one thought flows straight into the other.

Later on, she does go back to being suicidal, and being forced into a darkness dimension that negates her powers makes her briefly ecstatic. But this is a phase born of confusion and turmoil. She supports her friends when they decide to stop their parents, adopting them as her new family.

At the beginning of the storyline following their parents' defeat, when someone accuses Karolina of being a mutant, she responds with "I'm an extraterrestrial, and proud of it!" She does grow to love her abilities, and when she's relaxing at home, she prefers to do so in her full glow form. She considers staying her powered-down form to be hiding who she really is, and while she'll do so in public to avoid the authorities, having to lie about who she is after being lied to about it so long doesn't sit well with her.

She's also not the kind who's happy about hiding her homosexuality, or the fact that her fiancee is a different species from herself. Again, she'll do it to avoid Iron Man and Captain America sending her back to foster care, but she's more or less done with the angst and turmoil, and would rather use her experience to help others.

- ★ COURT ALLIANCE: Seelie.
- ★ ABILITIES: Karolina is a type of alien called a Majesdanian, which gives her unique abilities. The planet Majesdane is hidden inside the corona of a star, and Majesdanians derive energy from sunlight -- to the point that drinking her blood is fatal to vampires, for one thing. If Karolina uses up her glow, she is unable to recharge at night. Her power can be negated by physical contact a particular metal that is not named in the series, though she has a medical alert bracelet made of it. It also cannot be used to harm her parents, although other Majesdanians have so attacked her.

1. Solar energy manipulation. Karolina has two forms: one that looks like a default human, and one that looks like a humanoid glowing mass of cascading rainbow light. In her latter, powered up form, the cascading rainbow light can be concentrated into beams she fires from her hands, shields to protect herself and her allies, and crude restraints. (Crude because we never see her using the restraint technique herself, although others of her species do.)

2. Flight. In her powered-up form, she can fly.

Karolina is used to living as a runaway, so she has experience keeping a low profile and shoplifting discreetly, although she'd rather not.
